New Creations:
The Relief Print Process
My prints start with a drawing. The drawings are taken from my sketchbook, imagination, memory, or my own photography. Many times all three are involved.
After drawing the image on the block, the light areas are carved out. This relief surface is covered with an oil-based ink applied with a roller and then put through a manual cylinder press with a damp sheet of paper. The printed paper is then carefully removed and put aside to dry.
About Artist Maria Lilly
Hello, and welcome to my shop!
My name is Maria Lilly. I am an artist living and creating in New Mexico.
Many of my prints reflect New Mexico scenery. I love doing landscapes. However birds, plant life, weather, humans--and their stories--inspire me. You'll see any of these in my creations. I make no pretense of sticking to any particular genre. Be prepared, subject matter could change at any time.
