No matter what you believe, there has always been a fascination with death. People love ghost stories and the thrill of a scary moment after a brush with the supernatural.
Halloween, Samhain and Dia de los Muertos is about more than just death. They are about the ancestors, and loved ones that have passed. It is the time of year when the veil is thin. This is the perfect time to honor these spirits. Art is one the most poetic ways for this to happen. Spirit made manifest through face painting, costumes, jewelry, pumpkins, sculpture and of course prints.
My print is homage to these traditions. A reminder that physical life is fragile. There are always bones under that flesh. It is my wish to show the expression of this delicate balance, and remembrance of ancestors and loved ones, who may be watching over us anyway. Honor your dead, for one day you will be there too.
